Meet Prof. Wande Abimbola: Minister Who Took Oath By Swearing With HORN In 2003 Under Obasanjo

A remarkable history untold is the story of a former minister under the 2003 - 2007 Chief Olusegun Obasanjo led Nigerian Government, their person of Prof. Wande Abimbola who took his oath to office by swearing with a horn.

It could be traced that Prof. Wande Abimbola who is an Ifa priest and former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State dance to another tune on the 24th of July, 2003 in Abuja when he took the oath of office as special adviser on culture and traditional matters to President Olusegun Obasanjo.

In a fashion that departed from the usual tradition of oath taking, Abimbola dramatically took his oath with a horn, pledging to uphold the fundamental objective of state policy.

Many public Office holder of nowadays, use the Christianity and Islamic Bible and Quran to swear decisively, of which they end up going against the will of the electorates who brought them into power.

Alot of approach had been given by the Nigeria citizenry especially among the Yorubas that all politicians should swear in with traditional equipments like, Gunpowder, horn, iron and metal objects, and other natural things, adding that evil will befall them if they go against the promise of which they sworn on.
